8 more days!

As I count down the days until my departure, everything is beginning to set in. Firstly, I finally received my student visa! Secondly, I learned that I was assigned to a homestay family. Thirdly, I’m making calls to announce my departure.

Today my mother and I went shopping for my host family and e-pals. My mom picked out perfume and cologne for my host parents while I picked out some MAC makeup for my e-pals. I hope they like it! I still need to pick out two more presents for my host sisters. It’s quite tricky because one of the girls is 8 years old. What do you buy for an eight year old? I would usually purchase cute stationary or something Hello Kitty but this present needs to be more American. Is she old enough to appreciate accessories? Is she too young for Disney toys? Ahh, so difficult!

As I prepare to leave, I want to soak up everything that’s been happening with me, my boyfriend and my family. I’m going to miss them so much. My boyfriend’s silly mannerisms, the cute smile of my nephew, the warmth of my mother’s eyes, the gentleness displayed by my stepfather…these are the things I’m going to miss the most.

I’m also going to miss my grandparents so much. When I talk to my grandpa about Japan, his eyes just light up (in case you didn’t know, he studied abroad in Japan in the ‘60s) and it’s like he’s watching me relive his past.
Ahh this sounds so depressing! But really, I am happy.

Let’s hope nothing terrible happens days before I leave (i.e. my loans don’t go through and I have to stay in PSU after telling everyone I’m leaving :P). Cross your fingers!!

***Sorry for the lack of photos, I've been super busy***

  1. YAY I'm so glad you got your visa! Whew! I think it's a good idea to buy makeup stuff in America for them (because I bet its even more expensive over there! o-o;)

Get the girl an American board game? Monopoly deal haha ;)
